For many years I have tried to figure out how to extract more than the 9.5 Volts to 12 Volts from a stock ignition. Since most of us use a worn out battery that hardly has more than enough power to start the car let alone run it for 38 or so laps. Usually, by the end of the race you are lucky to have 9.5 volts left in your battery. Well, I believe I have found out how to do just that.

Here is a story for a friend of mine who has the solution to this problem that he has used for years as a XTREEM Late Model driver/owner. He calls it a voltage amplifier. It takes battery voltage 9.5-12 volts and converts it to 14-16-18 volts and will allow the battery to last at least 50-100 laps of competition.

Conceptually similar to a step-up transformer, the Volt-Master regulates output voltage by switching the DC about 40,000 times a second through an inductor (not unlike an ignition coil), then rectifies the signal with diodes, and finally buffers and stores the voltage in several large capacitors. This unit adjusts the output voltage and current in each of those capacitors 40,000 times per second!

The Volt-Master is designed the right way. The best it can possibly be made to do it's intended job! Our electronics make extensive use of Surface Mount Technology to maximize ruggedness and efficiency. The entire unit is filled with electronic grade silicone encapsulant for the ultimate in protection.

Installation is simple. Just connect the Volt-Master in series with the power lead(s) of your device. This is typically a heavy gauge red wire. The fused orange wire goes to the battery side, and the red 16 volt wire goes to your device. Some ignition systems have a second 12 volt connection to an ignition switch through a much smaller wire. This connection generally does not need to be changed at all from it's present state. Mounting of the unit is only limited by keeping it away from high heat areas (exhaust). 12 volts in on the orange wire, 14-16-18 volts out on the red wire.
